Equal Opportunities For All

Rural Businesses will have a ‘fair crack of the whip’ when it comes to gaining assistance and training in using ICT.

Through the Leader+ Programme 'Rural Access To I.T.', at least 95 rural businesses and a number of community groups will have access to a wide range of services.

This will include advice on the type of computer equipment and software you may need; access to ½ day of technical advice concerning issues of access to broadband, networks, software and e-commerce; technical help with IT when things go wrong and your business is at risk and up to 50% towards the cost of training in computer skills.

Another service offered through the Project is that of creating and managing your own website. Many very small businesses, and those just starting up, cannot afford to have a website designed and created for them. The project will assist these businesses to design their own site and receive enough training to maintain and update it themselves.

Successfully using digital cameras to import your own photographs on to a website, or within your own publicity material is also another skill that can be gained.

The courses offered are applicable to a wide number of businesses – comments from farmer’s wives who attended a course on records transference – called the experience ‘enlightening’ and were delighted they would have to do less writing in the future.
